I’ve been seriously intrigued by Maptia for the past couple of months. Launching in the next couple of months, Maptia’s goal is to be a beautiful, interactive map that users can be inspired by and record their own adventures. Fingers crossed that it’s up and running in time for my upcoming Vietnam adventure…

When I finished grad school, I knew that I wanted to travel before starting a full time job. After convincing my parents that it was the right thing for me to do (they wanted me to start my career right away; I made a PowerPoint presentation to convince them otherwise), off to Europe I went.
Though portions of my trip were solo, I did meet up with a friend in Berlin. It turned out to be one of my favourite cities that I’ve ever visited, and one I hope to return to.
I loved this map of Berlin by French designer Armelle Caron the moment I saw it. The left shows the true layout, and the right a linear alignment of the city.
South East Asia is next on my travel list, so these awesome map coasters from fellow Canadian Jonathon Wayne Design might soon act as a daily reminder. He does coasters with maps from a ton of places, so check them out if you’re looking for a bit of inspiration with your coffee too.
