Holding pattern

Image

It’s been a while since I last posted. Things got busy (not a good excuse, I know) and then my collection of items to post became overwhlemingly large (a trip to Vietnam, a road trip through Costa Rica, amongst other things), but this group of images of airports from above that I came across on one of my favourite blogs has inspired me to get back at it. Who knew that airports could be so visually interesting?

Check them all out here – the airport will never look the same to me again…

Social travel

Photo sharing lets friends travel with friends, or even strangers travel with strangers. It’s classically been said that a photo says 1,000 words, which is why I think things like Instagram have taken off as a quick and easy way to share updates with your networks. I came across this video today by Thomas Julien and it got me thinking about doing something with the travel pics on my Instagram account…

Move

Every time I see this beautiful film I get a little more wanderlusty. I think it really captures the energy of being on the road, and I love seeing how they’ve caught some of my favourite places, like Paris and Peru.

Where does it make you want to go?

On the topic of maps

I’ve been seriously intrigued by Maptia for the past couple of months. Launching in the next couple of months, Maptia’s goal is to be a beautiful, interactive map that users can be inspired by and record their own adventures. Fingers crossed that it’s up and running in time for my upcoming Vietnam adventure…

Links I Love

Image

In this week’s edition of Links I Love, I’m channelling positivity via music, imagery and a little Om.

  • Songza – playlists created and curated based on your mood or activity, accessible anywhere there’s wifi. What could be better? Some of my favourite lists are Indie Apartment Party and Ventura Highway.
  • This beautiful video. Makes me want to go back to South America, ahora.
  • I often like to check out local yoga or gym classes while I’m travelling (just because you’re on the road doesn’t mean you can’t be active!). Lululemon’s new Om Finder app helps you find yoga classes near you when you’re on the go, or unfamiliar with what’s offered in the city.
  • The New York Times recently published the latest collection of their series of stunning reader travel photos called Why we Travel. I couldn’t agree more!

DIY: City Frames

DIY: City Frames

A Brazilian friend I met backpacking in Australia posted this on FB yesterday and I absolutely fell in love. I think rather than adding in the travel memorabilia like they’ve done here, I’m just going to create the city and country names out of images and find some great vintage frames. All I need to do now is figure out which cities I’m going to feature…
